FX
THE AMERICANS

Title Design

Opening credit sequence pitch for the FX hit show The Americans. Created at The Mill NYC. This direciton is based on the many contrasts, tensions and ironies that take place in the show 'The Americans' as well as within US/Russian cultures and relationships during this time period.

An editorial narrative simultaneously explores contrasting political and social imagery alongside iconic images of American popular culture. Footage of national monuments, propaganda imagery, and world leaders, are juxtaposed with American pop stars and commercials from the 1980s . The pacing of the sequence has a cold-war like brooding pace and tension interjected with frenetic moments of chaos contrasts and irony.

Stylistically much of this sequence was to be shot off an 80s television– simultaneously hinting at family life and surveillance.
