School of Motion
2024 Ascent

Various 3D Animation Projects

After years of directing and leading motion teams, I wanted to deliberately return to fundamentals and get hands-on, push my own craftsmanship, and re-connect with C4D! Ascent was a perfect container for that.

Over several weeks, I worked through structured projects, critique rounds, and explorations focused on movement, timing, visual rhythm, and typographic storytelling. These pieces represent the experiments and finished animations that came out of that process.  Studies in form, motion, restraint, and clarity.

This wasn’t about just about learning something new, it was about deepening the muscle and having some fun!

Make It Squishy!

Great excercise in playing around with soft bodies, cloth sims, inflations and using mograph to drive simulations.

Growth Mindset

All things Fields and Mograph to drive animation. Inspired by all the fall mushroom foraging adventures I’ve been having in the Hudson Valley lately!

How Rube

Brought this Rube Goldberg inspired machine to life using a ton of rigid body simulations and forces within C4D.

Why We Dance!

This one incorporates some character animation and rigging as well as a dash of weight painting.

Mechanically Speaking

Another excersie in rigging, this time using mechanical IK rigs!
