PATRIOT ACT WITH HASAN MINHAJ
2020 Quarantine Edition Reel
At the beginning of 2020 I decided to take an Art Director role on the Netflix series Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. I’ve always been a huge fan of the show and their screen/stage set up is a dream for any motion designer to work with. This series broke new ground in the use of live, immersive motion design for a weekly comedy show and was Emmy award winning. Needless to say I was super pumped for this one!
Of course the global impact of COVID-19 had other plans and Patriot Act shifted directions just one month into my role here. We needed to redesign the show from the ground up to comply with social distancing norms and adapted our creative direction to maintain the same level of high quality graphics for a new format.
In the end I’m super proud of the way all of the episodes turned out and am so thankful to have been a part of this show. Seeing how every single member of the team was able to shift gears and rebuild the show on the fly was something truly amazing to be a part of, especially during such a difficult time.
